Madam&Eve is a very popular cartoon from Johannesburg/ South Africa written by Stephen Francis and Rico, published in newspapers like Mail&Guardian since 1992.
It is set in post-apartheid South Africa with the white Gwen Anderson (Madam) and Black Eve Sisulu (Eve) as main Characters, as well as well as 80year old Mother Anderson from England, Madam’s mother, and Thandi, Eve’s 8 year old Cousin from next door, supporting them. It comments on racism, class and gender issues, as well as everyday international and national politics.
